Can lighting play a factor in slip and fall cases? What if I fell in the dark?

Yes. Many of these falls can occur in areas where there is poor lighting or a lack of lighting. A property owner is also required to provide adequate lighting so that individuals entering upon the property do not fall on something they cannot see.  Reasonable care in this situation would require the property owner to inspect and ensure that the lights are sufficient and working properly.
