Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY represented a client who was a former MBTA trolley operator and a member of the affiliated Union. She alleged in her lawsuit filed in Suffolk Superior Court that the Union had not advocated for her by failing to take her case to arbitration after she was wrongfully terminated by the MBTA. The client was a native of Haiti and alleged that this failure by the Union to advocate on her behalf, was based on her race and national origin. The client had been the subject of egregious discrimination from some members of the Union.
The trial began on October 29, 2018 in Suffolk Superior Court. The jury found in favor of the client and awarded her $490,500.00 in emotional distress damages. Prejudgment interest of $179,771.19 and statutory costs were added to the verdict bringing the total amount of the judgment to $670,556.19. The Judge then allowed an additional award of attorney’s fees in the amount of $150,000.00 plus $8,733.40 in costs. The total amount of the judgment and fees owed to the client after the Superior Court trial was $829,289.59. The Union then appealed the verdict to the Massachusetts Court of Appeals. Greg Connly represented the client during the entire appeal process. On August 4, 2020, a decision came down from the Massachusetts Appeals Court. The Appeals Court upheld the Superior Court judgment. Further, the Appeals Court awarded attorney’s fees in the Appeals Court case in the amount of $27,355.00. Post-judgment interest that accrued during the appeal was also added.
On November 24, 2020, the Union paid to the client the amount of $1,006,330.03.
This case that was handled by Attorney Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY went from one on the verge of dismissal, to one in which there was a recovery in excess of a million dollars. No settlement offer had ever been made by the Union prior to the Superior Court trial.

Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY tried a case in September of 2018 in the Worcester Superior Court. The case alleged chiropractic malpractice. The plaintiff/client was an 81-year-old gentleman who had a manipulation to adjust his pelvis done by the defendant/chiropractor. The negligent performance of this manipulation resulted in the breaking of his prosthetic knee. The client reported that he heard an audible popping sound and felt immediate pain at the time of the adjustment. The prosthetic knee had to be surgically repaired fourteen days later. The chiropractor testified that he had no memory of the treatment and he testified that he did not perform the adjustment described by the client. Greg Connly and Barbara Connly of DOLAN CONNLY worked on the case for over seven years. During the trial, Greg Connly put together the facts and expert testimony supporting the client’s position into a coherent credible case for the jury.
On September 14, 2018, the Worcester Superior Court jury came back with a verdict in favor of the plaintiff/client. DOLAN CONNLY’S client was awarded $750,000.00 in past and future medical expenses and $3,000,000.00 in pain and suffering. Including interest, the total judgment was $4,426,180.35. No offer had ever been made by the defense to settle the case. The verdict was appealed by the defense attorney. The case resolved during the appeal process with the 88-year-old client receiving a significant financial settlement, above and beyond any other comparable Massachusetts settlement or verdict for such injuries. Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY tried a case in the Brockton Superior Court in November of 2011. The plaintiff/client was a forty-two-year-old chef working for a third-party food service company at the defendant’s corporate cafeteria. The plaintiff sustained an electric shock when a dishwasher, provided for his use by the defendant, malfunctioned when he pressed the off button on the control panel. The machine was leaking water that came in contact with a live electrical circuit behind the control panel. Greg Connly was able to prove at trial that the defendant corporation was responsible for maintenance of the dishwasher and that it was in a hazardous and unsafe condition. It was discovered that the dishwasher had various mechanical problems after its initial installation and employees of the defendant failed to properly maintain it. The plaintiff suffered a traumatic brain injury, major depression, panic disorder, cognitive impairment and post-traumatic stress disorder. Following the electric shock, the plaintiff who had received excellent work reviews over the years, struggled at his job due to the effects of the traumatic brain injury. He never regained his previous high-level functioning in his occupation and was forced to stop working altogether.
On November 29, 2011, the Brockton Superior Court jury came back with a verdict in favor of the plaintiff/client. DOLAN CONNLY’S client was awarded $2,500,000.00 in past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost earning capacity. Including interest in the amount of $1,180,187.78, the final award was $3,680,187.78. The last offer by the defendant corporation to settle the case before trial was $50,000.00. The verdict was appealed by the defense, but the judgement was paid in full after the trial transcripts were reviewed by appellate counsel. Click here to see the actual court docket.

The client was working on an electrical project outside a home when he was asked by the homeowner to enter the home to look at another project. When our client was in the process of walking from one room to another, the dog unexpectedly bit him in the back of his leg. The client tried to get the dog to unlock its grip on his leg and in the process, he twisted his back. What to Do After a Personal Injury Accident in Quincy
The hours following an accident are often overwhelming. You may be in pain, unsure of what steps to take, and worried about how this will affect your future. Yet the decisions you make early on can significantly impact both your recovery and your legal rights. At DOLAN CONNLY, P.C., we are here to guide you through this critical time with clarity and care.
If you have been injured due to someone else’s negligence in Quincy, taking the following steps can help protect your health, strengthen your case, and ensure that you are positioned for the compensation you deserve:
- Seek medical attention – Even if your injuries appear minor at first, it is essential to consult a medical professional. Some conditions may not exhibit symptoms immediately. Early documentation of your injuries also creates an essential medical record that supports your claim.
- Report the incident – Whether it is a car crash, workplace accident, or injury on someone else’s property, make sure the event is officially documented. Call the police, notify your employer, or file an incident report as needed.
- Preserve evidence – If possible, take photos or videos of the scene, your injuries, and any contributing hazardous conditions. Get names and contact information for any witnesses. Even small details can make a big difference later.
- Stay off social media – After an injury, it is natural to want to share updates with friends and family, but be cautious. Insurance companies often monitor social media for posts that could be used to question the seriousness of your injuries.
- Call a personal injury lawyer before speaking with insurers – Insurance adjusters may sound helpful, but their goal is to minimize payouts, not protect your rights. Saying the wrong thing, even casually, can harm your claim. Let your personal injury lawyer deal with insurers while you focus on healing.
- Getting legal support early on can make a critical difference. The sooner you contact a personal injury lawyer in Quincy, MA, the sooner we can begin preserving evidence, advising you on next steps, and shielding you from tactics designed to reduce the value of your claim.
How Will a Quincy Personal Injury Attorney at DOLAN CONNLY, P.C. Handle Your Case?
After an accident, you may receive calls from insurance adjusters offering quick settlements or asking for recorded statements. It might seem like things are being handled fairly, but make no mistake: representatives of insurance companies are not your advocates. Their goal is to pay as little as possible, even if your injuries are serious and your losses are life-changing.
That is why working with a Quincy personal injury attorney is not just helpful—it can prove to be essential.
With decades of experience advocating for injury victims in Quincy and throughout Massachusetts, we understand how to build strong, evidence-backed cases that insurance companies and juries take seriously. Our personal injury attorneys provide legal advantages that can dramatically improve your outcome.
We Determine and Prove Legal Liability
In personal injury claims, the burden is on you as the injured party, to prove that someone else’s negligence caused your harm. We gather police reports, witness statements, surveillance footage, accident reconstructions, and expert testimony to prove fault under Massachusetts negligence laws.
We Protect You from Costly Legal Pitfalls
Massachusetts applies a modified comparative negligence rule (M.G.L. c. 231, § 85). If you are found at trial to be more than 50% at fault for the accident, you may be barred from recovering damages altogether. Partial fault of less than 50% can reduce your compensation award. We make sure that fault is accurately assessed and contested when needed.
We Calculate the Full Value of Your Claim
Insurance companies may focus on your immediate medical bills, but your case could include far more: lost income, future medical care, emotional distress, permanent disability, disfigurement, scarring, pain and suffering. We work with medical experts, economists, and life care planners to demand full and fair compensation.
Strategic and Relentless Negotiation
Insurance carriers are skilled at quickly offering low settlements to minimize payouts. We don’t accept offers that fall short of what you are truly owed. Our personal injury attorneys use detailed evidence, expert reports, and legal precedent to challenge and counter every tactic.
Trial-Ready Preparation from Day One
We prepare every case as if it will go to trial, even if it eventually settles. Why? Because being ready for trial gives us leverage. Insurers know we will not hesitate to litigate when necessary, and that credibility often leads to stronger settlement outcomes.
At DOLAN CONNLY, P.C., our mission is simple: to get you the justice and compensation you rightfully deserve. You only have one chance to get this right, and having the right personal injury lawyer in Quincy on your side can dramatically change the outcome of your case.
Let us deal with the legal system and insurance companies while you focus on what matters most: your recovery!
Statute of Limitations for Personal Injury Lawsuits in Massachusetts
Massachusetts law gives you three years from the date of your injury to file a personal injury lawsuit (M.G.L. c. 260, § 2A). If you miss that deadline, your right to seek compensation will vanish, no matter how strong your case may be.
There are exceptions, but they are rare. That is why it is critical to speak with a Quincy personal injury lawyer as soon as possible. The earlier we are involved, the more we can do to preserve evidence, secure witnesses, and build a winning case.
How Do You File a Personal Injury Lawsuit in Quincy, Massachusetts?
Once you have decided to file a personal injury lawsuit, you deserve a clear roadmap of what comes next. At DOLAN CONNLY, P.C., we guide you through every stage of the process with precision and care, because when you are dealing with the physical, emotional, and financial impact of an injury, the last thing you should have to worry about is navigating the legal system alone.
Developing a Legal Strategy That Fits Your Case
After you officially retain our firm, we begin with a comprehensive review of your case. This involves not just understanding how the accident happened, but also evaluating the full scope of your injuries, your recovery timeline, and the long-term effects on your quality of life and finances. Every decision from this point forward is guided by a strategy tailored specifically to your circumstances.
Pre-Suit Negotiations: Can We Settle Before Going to Court?
Before filing a lawsuit, we attempt to resolve the matter through pre-litigation negotiations. This usually begins with a formal demand letter to the at-fault party’s insurer, clearly laying out your injuries, the facts of the incident, and a compensation figure backed by evidence.
In some cases, this is enough to begin meaningful negotiations. But if the insurance company refuses to offer a fair settlement or delays in bad faith, we do not waste time. We move forward with filing a lawsuit and shift the pressure to them.
Filing a Lawsuit in Massachusetts Courts
To initiate a lawsuit, we draft a legal complaint and file it in the appropriate Massachusetts court. The defendant is then formally served with the complaint and has a limited time to respond.
Once both sides are officially before the court, the case enters a phase called discovery—a critical period where both sides exchange information, documents, and testimony that help clarify the facts and narrow the issues for trial.
Discovery: Building the Evidence That Wins Cases
Discovery includes everything from written questions (interrogatories) to depositions (sworn testimony) and expert evaluations. This discovery phase may take months, but it is where the foundation of your case is solidified.
Your personal injury lawyer in Quincy will manage every aspect of discovery while keeping you informed. We will also work closely with you to prepare for any involvement, such as answering questions or giving a deposition, so that you feel confident every step of the way.
Settlement or Trial: We Are Ready Either Way
Throughout the process, we continue to evaluate settlement opportunities. Many cases resolve after discovery is completed and once the full scope of evidence becomes clear. However, we prepare every case as if it will go to trial from the outset.
If a trial becomes necessary, we will present your case in court with corroborating facts, persuasive legal arguments, expert witnesses, and courtroom experience to tell your story with clarity and strength. You will never face that courtroom alone. We will be by your side, every step of the way.
You have already taken a courageous step by choosing to pursue justice. Now let a Quincy personal injury lawyer take it from here with compassion, professionalism, and a relentless commitment to your recovery.
Quincy Personal Injury Client Testimonials
The legal council I received from DOLAN CONNLY starting with the initial office visit to the settlement of my personal injury case was very helpful when I needed it most. They helped me navigate all the options and told me in plain English what to expect. I was a cooperative client and provided them with all the documentation they required and was patient allowing the legal process to unfold all of which they appreciated. Given the extent of damages I incurred from the accident I was pleased with the total compensation I received. Kathleen Allen has been our attorney for a few properties and we have sold and have been very happy and satisfied with her professional care in these transactions. There is a very easy way about her, as these things can be very stressful. She was always right there for any concerns or questions that we had. I would highly recommend her to my friends and family. I have closed on two houses with DOLAN CONNLY in the past 10 years. In July 2022, I worked with Kathleen Allen on a closing and was extremely impressed with her professionalism, honestly, and attention to detail. She was the only party to notice a trust was expiring weeks before the planned closing date. Her keen eye resulted in the seller extending the trust and preventing a delay in the closing. -Sam Excellent service ! Barry McIsaac was prompt and effective in dealing my claim case. We need more attorneys like him to help hold big companies accountable. I’d recommend Barry and the DOLAN CONNLY firm to anyone. I worked with Kathleen Allen to purchase my first home in Boston and she was incredible! The seller and I were not working with real estate agents, but Kathleen went above and beyond to make the closing process smooth. I was able to close on time due to her advocating and watching over me. I could not have bought this home without her help. I highly recommend anyone looking for a knowledgeable, quick, and advocating attorney to contact her to purchase a home.

FAQ: Quincy Personal Injury Lawyer
If you have suffered an injury in Quincy, it is natural to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about your legal options. To help guide you through the process, we have answered some of the most frequently asked questions about personal injury cases in Massachusetts. For personalized guidance, our legal team in Quincy is always available to speak with you directly.
How do I know if I have a strong personal injury case in Quincy?
You may have a viable case if someone else’s negligence caused your injuries in Quincy, whether through a car crash, slip-and-fall incident, or other accident. Key elements include proof of fault (like traffic violations or unsafe property conditions), documented injuries, and monetary damages (such as medical costs, lost wages and lost future income). A consultation with a personal injury lawyer in Quincy can help assess your situation, and there is no obligation to proceed.
What does comparative negligence mean for Quincy plaintiffs?
Massachusetts law applies a modified comparative negligence rule. You can still receive compensation if you are found to be up to 50% at fault at trial, but your recovery is reduced proportionally. For instance, if at trial, you are found to be 30% responsible for the accident, your total monetary award is reduced by 30%. If you are found to be more than 50% at fault, you cannot recover any monetary award.
Are personal injury settlements taxable in Massachusetts?
No. Personal injury settlements are not considered taxable income under both federal and Massachusetts state law.
How long does a personal injury case take to resolve in Quincy?
Every case is different. Straightforward claims may settle within a few months. More complex cases, especially those involving serious injuries, disputed liability, or multiple defendants, can take more than a year or longer. We wait for your medical condition, resulting from your injuries, to be fully determined before negotiating a settlement. For example, you may fully recover from your injuries over time, or a medical professional may determine that you have sustained permanent disabilities requiring continued treatment. This ensures that all costs and future needs are taken into consideration.
What if I can’t visit your office?
We understand serious injuries may prevent travel. That is why our Quincy team is more than willing to come to your home, hospital, or rehabilitation center to meet. We strive to make the process easy, accessible, and supportive even when mobility is limited.
Is it worth hiring a Quincy injury lawyer?
Yes. Insurance companies are not on your side—they prioritize profit. Your Quincy personal injury attorney levels the playing field by managing communications with insurers, negotiating fairly, challenging lowball offers, and building a case ready for trial if needed. Without professional help, many claimants unwittingly accept far less than fair compensation.
What is the cost of legal representation?
Our Quincy personal injury attorneys work on a contingency fee basis. We only collect a legal fee if we secure compensation on your behalf. Moreover, you will not pay anything if we don’t succeed in obtaining compensation on your behalf. We also front all expenses on your claim, which are also not reimbursed unless we obtain compensation on your behalf. You can expect that we will work hard to recover compensation for you. We can explain our fee structure clearly during your consultation so you will know exactly what to expect.
