Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY represented a client who was a former MBTA trolley operator and a member of the affiliated Union. She alleged in her lawsuit filed in Suffolk Superior Court that the Union had not advocated for her by failing to take her case to arbitration after she was wrongfully terminated by the MBTA. The client was a native of Haiti and alleged that this failure by the Union to advocate on her behalf, was based on her race and national origin. The client had been the subject of egregious discrimination from some members of the Union.
The trial began on October 29, 2018 in Suffolk Superior Court. The jury found in favor of the client and awarded her $490,500.00 in emotional distress damages. Prejudgment interest of $179,771.19 and statutory costs were added to the verdict bringing the total amount of the judgment to $670,556.19. The Judge then allowed an additional award of attorney’s fees in the amount of $150,000.00 plus $8,733.40 in costs. The total amount of the judgment and fees owed to the client after the Superior Court trial was $829,289.59. The Union then appealed the verdict to the Massachusetts Court of Appeals. Greg Connly represented the client during the entire appeal process. On August 4, 2020, a decision came down from the Massachusetts Appeals Court. The Appeals Court upheld the Superior Court judgment. Further, the Appeals Court awarded attorney’s fees in the Appeals Court case in the amount of $27,355.00. Post-judgment interest that accrued during the appeal was also added.
On November 24, 2020, the Union paid to the client the amount of $1,006,330.03.
This case that was handled by Attorney Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY went from one on the verge of dismissal, to one in which there was a recovery in excess of a million dollars. No settlement offer had ever been made by the Union prior to the Superior Court trial.

Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY tried a case in September of 2018 in the Worcester Superior Court. The case alleged chiropractic malpractice. The plaintiff/client was an 81-year-old gentleman who had a manipulation to adjust his pelvis done by the defendant/chiropractor. The negligent performance of this manipulation resulted in the breaking of his prosthetic knee. The client reported that he heard an audible popping sound and felt immediate pain at the time of the adjustment. The prosthetic knee had to be surgically repaired fourteen days later. The chiropractor testified that he had no memory of the treatment and he testified that he did not perform the adjustment described by the client. Greg Connly and Barbara Connly of DOLAN CONNLY worked on the case for over seven years. During the trial, Greg Connly put together the facts and expert testimony supporting the client’s position into a coherent credible case for the jury.
On September 14, 2018, the Worcester Superior Court jury came back with a verdict in favor of the plaintiff/client. DOLAN CONNLY’S client was awarded $750,000.00 in past and future medical expenses and $3,000,000.00 in pain and suffering. Including interest, the total judgment was $4,426,180.35. No offer had ever been made by the defense to settle the case. The verdict was appealed by the defense attorney. Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY tried a case in the Brockton Superior Court in November of 2011. The plaintiff/client was a forty-two-year-old chef working for a third-party food service company at the defendant’s corporate cafeteria. The plaintiff sustained an electric shock when a dishwasher, provided for his use by the defendant, malfunctioned when he pressed the off button on the control panel. The machine was leaking water that came in contact with a live electrical circuit behind the control panel. Greg Connly was able to prove at trial that the defendant corporation was responsible for maintenance of the dishwasher and that it was in a hazardous and unsafe condition. The plaintiff suffered a traumatic brain injury, major depression, panic disorder, cognitive impairment and post-traumatic stress disorder. Following the electric shock, the plaintiff who had received excellent work reviews over the years, struggled at his job due to the effects of the traumatic brain injury. Steps to Take Immediately After a Motorcycle Accident in Quincy, MA
We understand that after a serious motorcycle accident, thinking clearly or taking the right steps can feel impossible. The shock, pain, and confusion make it difficult to know what to do first. However, if you are able, taking certain actions immediately can protect your health, preserve crucial evidence, and strengthen your personal injury claim. Even small details documented right after a crash can make a significant difference.
1. Ensure Your Safety and Seek Medical Attention
Your safety comes first. If you are able, move to a safe spot away from traffic. Even minor injuries can worsen, so seek prompt medical attention to protect your health and create an official record of your accident-related injuries.
2. Contact Emergency Services
Call 911 to report the accident and request medical help. The police report creates an official record, and noting officers’ names and badge numbers helps your attorney with your case and insurance claims.
3. Preserve Evidence at the Scene
If you are able, document the scene thoroughly. Take photos and videos showing:
- The position of all vehicles involved and any skid marks or debris on the road
- Damage to your motorcycle, other vehicles, and surrounding property
- Road conditions, traffic signals, signage, or construction zones
- Your visible injuries, including bruises, cuts, or swelling
Additionally, collect contact information for any witnesses. Independent eyewitness accounts can be pivotal when disputing liability, especially in multi-vehicle collisions or cases where negligent drivers deny fault.
4. Exchange Information Cautiously
Gather names, phone numbers, addresses, driver’s license numbers, and insurance information from everyone involved. Avoid admitting fault or making statements about the crash. Even casual comments can be used against you later.
5. Limit Interaction with Insurance Companies
Insurance adjusters will often contact accident victims immediately in an attempt to settle quickly or minimize compensation. Do not provide recorded statements, sign releases, or agree to settlements without legal guidance. Your motorcycle accident attorney will handle all communication with insurers.
6. Protect Physical and Digital Evidence
Secure any damaged gear, clothing, or personal property, and keep a record of your motorcycle and vehicle repairs. Save text messages, emails, or communications related to the accident, such as calls for roadside assistance. All of this evidence can be critical in proving the severity of the crash and supporting your claim.
7. Contact a Quincy Motorcycle Accident Lawyer
Time is of the essence. Critical records, such as vehicle Event Data Recorder (“black box”) information, maintenance records, and accident site conditions, can be lost or altered if action is delayed. A motorcycle accident attorney at DOLAN CONNLY, P.C. will promptly issue evidence preservation notices, collect all relevant evidence, and begin building a strong, comprehensive case on your behalf.
At DOLAN CONNLY, P.C., we handle the complex work, from evidence preservation to insurance negotiations, so you can focus on recovery while we fight to secure the compensation you deserve.

Statute of Limitations for Motorcycle Accident Cases in Massachusetts
In Massachusetts, the law gives motorcycle accident victims a limited window to file a personal injury lawsuit. Under Mass. Gen. Laws ch. 260, § 2A, you have three years from the date of your accident to initiate legal action. Missing this deadline will bar you from recovering compensation for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages, even if another party was clearly at fault.
Quincy’s busy streets and highways, including major routes like Route 3A and Route I‑93, see significant motorcycle and vehicle traffic every day. Delays in taking action can lead to lost evidence, faded witness memories, and erased surveillance footage. Working with a motorcycle accident lawyer in Quincy ensures that critical evidence is preserved immediately and that all filing deadlines are met.
How a Motorcycle Accident Lawsuit is Filed in Quincy, MA
Filing a motorcycle accident lawsuit in Quincy involves a structured legal process designed to protect your rights, document your losses, and pursue maximum compensation. Knowing what to expect can help you feel more in control during a stressful time. While your lawyer will handle every aspect of the process, here is a brief breakdown of how your case will unfold.
1. Filing the Complaint
Once sufficient evidence is gathered, your attorney will draft and file a formal complaint in court. This document outlines the facts of the case, the legal basis for the lawsuit, and the damages sought. Filing the complaint initiates the legal proceedings and sets the timeline for the case.
2. Discovery Phase
During discovery, both parties exchange relevant information and evidence. This may involve written questions (interrogatories), requests for documents, and depositions of parties and witnesses. The discovery process allows both sides to understand the evidence and prepare for trial or settlement discussions.
3. Settlement Negotiations
Many motorcycle accident cases are resolved through settlement negotiations before reaching trial. Your attorney will engage with the opposing party’s legal team and insurance company to negotiate a fair settlement that compensates you for medical expenses, lost wages, pain and suffering, and other damages.
4. Trial Proceedings
If a fair settlement cannot be reached, your case will proceed to trial. During the trial, both sides present their evidence and arguments to a judge or jury. Your motorcycle accident attorney will advocate on your behalf to prove liability and secure maximum compensation.
5. Post-Trial Motions and Appeals
After a verdict is rendered, there may be post-trial motions or appeals. If you are dissatisfied with the outcome, your attorney can file motions to alter or amend the judgment or pursue an appeal to a higher court. This step ensures that your rights are protected throughout the legal process.
Navigating the legal process after a motorcycle accident in Quincy can be complex. Engaging a motorcycle accident attorney early in the process will help ensure that your rights are protected and that you receive rightful compensation. When you work with a lawyer at DOLAN CONNLY, P.C., filing a claim becomes our fight so that you are able to focus on your recovery.
Quincy Personal Injury Client Testimonials
The legal council I received from DOLAN CONNLY starting with the initial office visit to the settlement of my personal injury case was very helpful when I needed it most. They helped me navigate all the options and told me in plain English what to expect. Given the extent of damages I incurred from the accident I was pleased with the total compensation I received. Kathleen Allen has been our attorney for a few properties and we have sold and have been very happy and satisfied with her professional care in these transactions. There is a very easy way about her, as these things can be very stressful. She was always right there for any concerns or questions that we had. I would highly recommend her to my friends and family. I have closed on two houses with DOLAN CONNLY in the past 10 years. In July 2022, I worked with Kathleen Allen on a closing and was extremely impressed with her professionalism, honestly, and attention to detail. She was the only party to notice a trust was expiring weeks before the planned closing date. Her keen eye resulted in the seller extending the trust and preventing a delay in the closing. -Sam Excellent service ! Barry McIsaac was prompt and effective in dealing my claim case. We need more attorneys like him to help hold big companies accountable. I’d recommend Barry and the DOLAN CONNLY firm to anyone. I worked with Kathleen Allen to purchase my first home in Boston and she was incredible! FAQ: Quincy Motorcycle Accident Lawyer
Being involved in a motorcycle accident in Quincy can be overwhelming, and it is normal to have urgent questions about your legal rights, the claims process, and how Massachusetts law affects your case. Below, we have compiled key questions that motorcycle accident victims frequently ask. For personalized guidance or answers specific to your situation, reach out to a motorcycle accident attorney at DOLAN CONNLY, P.C. today.
Can I recover compensation if the other driver doesn’t have insurance?
Yes. If the at-fault driver is uninsured or underinsured, your own insurance policy may provide coverage, such as uninsured/underinsured motorist protection. A motorcycle accident lawyer in Quincy can evaluate your policy and pursue all available compensation sources.
How can helmet laws in Massachusetts impact my case?
In Massachusetts, all motorcycle riders and passengers must wear a DOT-approved helmet, with limited exceptions for certain parades. If you were not wearing a helmet, it could affect your claim under the state’s modified comparative negligence rules, potentially reducing compensation based on your percentage of fault.
However, not wearing a helmet does not automatically prevent recovery. Your attorney can show that the other party’s negligence was the primary cause of the crash, and that your injuries would have occurred regardless. While insurers may try to use this fact against you, your Quincy motorcycle accident lawyer can protect your rights and maximize your compensation.
How is fault determined in a motorcycle accident in Quincy?
In Massachusetts, fault is determined using the modified comparative negligence system. During a trial, each party involved in the accident is assigned a percentage of responsibility based on their contribution to the crash. Your total damages awarded at trial are then reduced by your percentage of responsibility. If you are found 50% or more at fault, you cannot recover compensation. A Quincy motorcycle accident attorney at DOLAN CONNLY, P.C. can carefully review evidence—including police reports, witness statements, and accident reconstruction—to accurately calculate fault and ensure you recover the maximum compensation possible.
Can I claim compensation for long-term lifestyle changes?
Absolutely. Motorcycle accidents can impact your independence, daily activities, and recreational pursuits. Quincy motorcycle accident lawyers at DOLAN CONNLY, P.C. document these losses, along with emotional and physical effects, to ensure your claim reflects the full impact of the accident.
What role do expert witnesses play in motorcycle accident cases?
Experts such as accident reconstruction specialists, medical professionals, and vocational consultants help demonstrate fault, injury severity, and long-term effects. Your Quincy motorcycle accident attorney works closely with these professionals to build a compelling, evidence-based case.
How are hit-and-run motorcycle accidents in Quincy handled?
Hit-and-run cases can be complex, especially if the driver is unidentified. Your motorcycle accident attorney in Quincy will work with law enforcement, witness statements, and surveillance footage, and may pursue claims through your own insurance if necessary.
Can I file a claim for a motorcycle accident involving a rideshare or delivery vehicle?
Yes. Accidents involving rideshare or delivery vehicles often involve multiple insurance layers, including personal, commercial, and company policies. Your Quincy motorcycle accident lawyer navigates these complexities to ensure you recover full compensation.
Will my case affect my insurance premiums?
Having an attorney handle negotiations and claims can protect you from unnecessary premium increases. By establishing the other party’s liability, your Quincy motorcycle accident attorney can reduce the risk that your insurance will be unfairly impacted.
How soon after a motorcycle accident should I contact a lawyer?
Immediately. Early intervention ensures evidence is preserved, witnesses are identified while memories are fresh, and insurance companies cannot take advantage of delays. Prompt legal guidance maximizes the likelihood of full recovery.
How much does it cost to hire a motorcycle accident lawyer in Quincy?
At DOLAN CONNLY, P.C., we handle motorcycle accident cases on a contingency fee basis, which means you pay nothing upfront. Our attorneys only get paid if we secure a settlement or verdict on your behalf, ensuring that you can pursue justice without financial risk.
