Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY represented a client who was a former MBTA trolley operator and a member of the affiliated Union. She alleged in her lawsuit filed in Suffolk Superior Court that the Union had not advocated for her by failing to take her case to arbitration after she was wrongfully terminated by the MBTA. The client was a native of Haiti and alleged that this failure by the Union to advocate on her behalf, was based on her race and national origin. The client had been the subject of egregious discrimination from some members of the Union.
The trial began on October 29, 2018 in Suffolk Superior Court. The jury found in favor of the client and awarded her $490,500.00 in emotional distress damages. Prejudgment interest of $179,771.19 and statutory costs were added to the verdict bringing the total amount of the judgment to $670,556.19. The Judge then allowed an additional award of attorney’s fees in the amount of $150,000.00 plus $8,733.40 in costs. The total amount of the judgment and fees owed to the client after the Superior Court trial was $829,289.59. The Union then appealed the verdict to the Massachusetts Court of Appeals. Greg Connly represented the client during the entire appeal process. On August 4, 2020, a decision came down from the Massachusetts Appeals Court. The Appeals Court upheld the Superior Court judgment. Further, the Appeals Court awarded attorney’s fees in the Appeals Court case in the amount of $27,355.00. Post-judgment interest that accrued during the appeal was also added.
On November 24, 2020, the Union paid to the client the amount of $1,006,330.03.

Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY tried a case in September of 2018 in the Worcester Superior Court. The case alleged chiropractic malpractice. The plaintiff/client was an 81-year-old gentleman who had a manipulation to adjust his pelvis done by the defendant/chiropractor. The negligent performance of this manipulation resulted in the breaking of his prosthetic knee. The client reported that he heard an audible popping sound and felt immediate pain at the time of the adjustment. The prosthetic knee had to be surgically repaired fourteen days later. The chiropractor testified that he had no memory of the treatment and he testified that he did not perform the adjustment described by the client. Greg Connly and Barbara Connly of DOLAN CONNLY worked on the case for over seven years. During the trial, Greg Connly put together the facts and expert testimony supporting the client’s position into a coherent credible case for the jury.

Greg Connly of DOLAN CONNLY tried a case in the Brockton Superior Court in November of 2011. The plaintiff/client was a forty-two-year-old chef working for a third-party food service company at the defendant’s corporate cafeteria. The plaintiff sustained an electric shock when a dishwasher, provided for his use by the defendant, malfunctioned when he pressed the off button on the control panel. The machine was leaking water that came in contact with a live electrical circuit behind the control panel. Steps to Take After a Motorcycle Crash in Taunton
A motorcycle accident can leave individuals dealing with pain, traumatic stress, and uncertainty about what steps to take next. While transparent decision-making may be complex in the immediate moments following a crash, taking prompt and careful action can protect your health, preserve critical evidence, and strengthen a potential personal injury claim.
1. Protect Your Safety and Obtain Medical Care
If conditions allow, move to a safe area and seek medical attention as soon as possible. Injuries that appear minor at first may worsen over time. Early medical evaluation protects your well-being and creates essential documentation that supports your claim.
2. Contact Emergency Services
Call 911 to report the collision and request assistance. A police report provides an official record of the incident, and obtaining responding officers’ names and badge numbers can be helpful during the legal process.
3. Record Evidence at the Scene
When able, take photographs or videos of vehicle positions, roadway conditions, skid marks, property damage, and visible injuries. Collect contact information from witnesses, as independent accounts often play a key role in establishing fault.
4. Exchange Information With Care
Provide basic contact and insurance information to other parties involved, but avoid discussing fault or making statements about how the accident occurred.
5. Be Cautious With Insurance Communications
Insurance representatives may attempt to resolve claims quickly for less than their actual value. Avoid providing recorded statements or signing documents without legal guidance.
6. Speak With a Taunton Motorcycle Accident Lawyer Promptly
Necessary evidence, such as surveillance footage, vehicle data, and scene conditions, can be lost if action is delayed. Early legal involvement enables timely preservation of evidence and case development while you focus on recovery.
Early involvement of a Taunton motorcycle accident lawyer is critical. Insurance companies often act quickly to limit financial exposure, and even minor missteps can affect the value of a claim. Prompt legal guidance helps ensure communications are correctly handled, evidence is preserved, and your rights are protected from the beginning.
The Role of a Motorcycle Accident Lawyer in Your Case
Establishing responsibility after a motorcycle accident often requires analysis of multiple parties, traffic dynamics, and detailed medical documentation. Insurance companies understand how complex these cases can be and are prepared to use minor inconsistencies or mistakes to reduce payouts. Without legal guidance, accident victims may accept settlements that fail to account for full medical costs, lost income, or future needs.
Once you contact our firm, a motorcycle accident attorney in Taunton assumes responsibility for your case without delay, managing every aspect of your claim on your behalf.
Protecting Statements and Communications
Insurance adjusters frequently reach out to injured riders soon after a crash. Requests for recorded statements or written explanations may later be used to limit compensation. Legal counsel handles all communications to ensure accuracy and protect your interests.
Preserving Time Sensitive Evidence
Key evidence, such as scene photographs, vehicle data, and witness accounts can be lost or altered over time. Our motorcycle accident lawyers act promptly to secure and preserve this information to support your claim.
Addressing Complex Liability Issues
Motorcycle accidents may involve multiple vehicles, roadway conditions, or mechanical defects. Legal representation ensures the appropriate evidence and expert analysis is used to establish fault and protect your rights.
Pursuing Full Compensation
A motorcycle accident attorney evaluates both immediate and long-term losses, including medical treatment, future care, lost wages, reduced earning capacity, and non-economic damages such as pain and suffering.
Preparing the Case for Trial
Although many claims resolve through settlement, early trial preparation strengthens negotiation efforts. Building a case with litigation in mind positions you to pursue fair compensation if settlement discussions fail.
Early involvement of legal counsel provides informed advocacy, anticipates insurance strategies, preserves key evidence, and establishes a solid basis for recovery. Acting promptly protects your rights and minimizes the risk of mistakes that could influence the outcome of your claim.
Time Limits for Filing a Motorcycle Accident Lawsuit in Massachusetts
Strict filing deadlines apply to motorcycle accident claims in Taunton, making early awareness of the legal timeline essential. Massachusetts law imposes strict limits on when a personal injury lawsuit may be filed, and failing to act within these limits permanently bars recovery for medical expenses, lost income, pain and suffering, and related losses.
Under Massachusetts General Laws chapter 260, section 2A, injured motorcyclists have 3 years from the date of the accident to file a lawsuit. This period begins on the date the crash occurs, not when the full extent of injuries becomes clear.
Motorcycle accident cases often involve multiple responsible parties, extensive medical documentation, and technical evidence such as vehicle data or surveillance recordings. Delays can lead to lost evidence, fading witness memories, and gaps in medical documentation, all of which insurance companies may use to challenge or reduce a claim.
Complying with the statute of limitations is a critical part of protecting your legal rights. Taking action promptly preserves evidence, strengthens your case, and increases the likelihood of pursuing full and fair compensation. Contacting a Taunton motorcycle accident attorney early helps ensure that deadlines are met and recovery options remain fully available.
How to File a Motorcycle Accident Lawsuit in Taunton
Pursuing a motorcycle accident lawsuit in Taunton begins once you and your legal representative determine that legal action is appropriate. The purpose of this process is to protect your rights, fully document your losses, and position your case for the strongest possible recovery. Understanding how the case progresses helps you stay informed and confident while your Taunton motorcycle accident lawyer handles the legal work.
Step One: Drafting and Filing the Complaint
Your motorcycle accident attorney prepares a formal Complaint that describes how the accident occurred, identifies the responsible parties, and outlines the damages being sought. Filing this document with the court officially initiates the lawsuit.
Step Two: Serving the Defendant
Once the Complaint is filed, it must be formally delivered to the defendant along with a summons. This procedure, known as service of process, ensures that the opposing party is legally informed of the lawsuit and required to respond.
Step Three: Discovery and Evidence Development
During discovery, both sides exchange information relevant to the case. Your motorcycle accident lawyer may request medical records, employment documentation, police reports, witness statements, and electronic data such as vehicle or surveillance records. Depositions, which involve sworn testimony, may be taken from you, witnesses, or expert professionals. Throughout this phase, your motorcycle accident lawyer provides guidance so you understand what to expect.
Step Four: Settlement Discussions
Many motorcycle accident cases resolve through settlement negotiations. Using evidence gathered during discovery, your motorcycle accident attorney presents a detailed demand outlining your injuries, medical needs, lost income, and other damages. You remain involved in evaluating any offers received, with legal guidance provided to determine whether proposed terms reflect fair compensation.
Step Five: Trial Preparation and Litigation
If settlement efforts do not result in an acceptable resolution, the case proceeds toward trial. Your legal representatives prepare evidence, expert testimony, and legal arguments for presentation before a jury or judge. You may participate in trial preparation by providing testimony and clarifying how the accident has affected your life. Every element of liability and damages is presented clearly to support maximum recovery.
Step Six: Post-Trial Proceedings
After a verdict is issued, additional legal steps may be required, including post-trial motions or appeals. Your motorcycle accident attorney manages these filings and advises you on available options while continuing to protect your interests.
Although filing a motorcycle accident lawsuit follows a structured path, the process involves detailed legal and procedural requirements. With a Taunton motorcycle accident lawyer representing you, you remain informed and supported. At the same time, your legal team handles evidence development, insurance negotiations, and litigation strategy to pursue full and fair compensation.
Client Testimonials
The legal council I received from DOLAN CONNLY starting with the initial office visit to the settlement of my personal injury case was very helpful when I needed it most. They helped me navigate all the options and told me in plain English what to expect. I was a cooperative client and provided them with all the documentation they required and was patient allowing the legal process to unfold all of which they appreciated. Given the extent of damages I incurred from the accident I was pleased with the total compensation I received. Kathleen Allen has been our attorney for a few properties and we have sold and have been very happy and satisfied with her professional care in these transactions. There is a very easy way about her, as these things can be very stressful. She was always right there for any concerns or questions that we had. I would highly recommend her to my friends and family. I have closed on two houses with DOLAN CONNLY in the past 10 years. In July 2022, I worked with Kathleen Allen on a closing and was extremely impressed with her professionalism, honestly, and attention to detail. She was the only party to notice a trust was expiring weeks before the planned closing date. Her keen eye resulted in the seller extending the trust and preventing a delay in the closing. -Sam Excellent service ! Barry McIsaac was prompt and effective in dealing my claim case. We need more attorneys like him to help hold big companies accountable. I’d recommend Barry and the DOLAN CONNLY firm to anyone. I worked with Kathleen Allen to purchase my first home in Boston and she was incredible! The seller and I were not working with real estate agents, but Kathleen went above and beyond to make the closing process smooth. I was able to close on time due to her advocating and watching over me. I could not have bought this home without her help. I highly recommend anyone looking for a knowledgeable, quick, and advocating attorney to contact her to purchase a home.

Frequently Asked Questions
Motorcycle accident claims often raise important questions. The information below addresses common concerns in Taunton, and a motorcycle accident attorney at our firm is available to provide personalized guidance during a free consultation.
What options are available if the at-fault driver has no insurance?
Compensation may still be available even if the responsible driver is uninsured. Many motorcycle riders carry uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage, which can apply in situations like these. Because motorcycle accidents often result in significant medical expenses, a motorcycle accident attorney can review all available insurance policies early to identify every possible source of recovery.
Does helmet use affect a motorcycle accident claim in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts law requires motorcycle riders and passengers to wear approved protective helmets. If a helmet was not worn, insurance companies may attempt to argue comparative fault. However, a motorcycle accident lawyer in Taunton can present medical and technical evidence showing that the primary cause of the injuries was not due to the lack of a helmet, thereby helping protect the value of the claim.
How is responsibility evaluated after a motorcycle crash?
Fault is determined by reviewing evidence such as police reports, witness statements, vehicle damage, and expert analysis. Massachusetts follows a modified comparative negligence system, which allows recovery at trial when an injured rider is found to be less than 51% at fault. Early investigation by legal counsel helps limit fault allocation and protect the right to compensation.
What happens if a commercial, rideshare, or delivery vehicle caused the crash?
Motorcycle accidents involving commercial or delivery vehicles often involve multiple insurance policies and corporate entities. These cases require careful coordination of personal and commercial coverage. A motorcycle accident attorney in Taunton identifies all responsible parties and works to ensure that compensation accounts for medical treatment, lost income, future care, and non-economic damages.
Are there upfront costs to hire a motorcycle accident attorney?
Motorcycle accident cases are handled on a contingency fee basis. No upfront payment is required, and legal fees are collected only if compensation is recovered. This structure allows injured riders to pursue a claim without financial strain while receiving experienced legal representation.
How is the value of a motorcycle accident claim determined in Massachusetts?
Claim value depends on factors such as injury severity, medical costs, income loss, property damage, and long-term limitations. Motorcycle accidents often result in serious injuries, which can significantly increase case value. Legal counsel ensures that both economic and non-economic damages are fully documented and accurately evaluated.
What if my injuries prevent me from visiting your office?
If travel is not possible due to injury, a motorcycle accident attorney in Taunton can meet clients at home, in a hospital, or at a rehabilitation facility. These accommodations ensure access to legal guidance without adding stress during recovery.
